The Royal Mint Records for the 1866 Issue

1866 One Thirteenth of a Shilling

Reviewing the following Royal Mint correspondence we learn that an act was passed on December 8, 1864 to request a bronze coinage with a nominal value of £2,000. There were to be equal number of the thirteenth part of a shilling coins and the twenty sixth part of a shilling coins minted.

Note the money is to be "as the copper money lately coined in England" but in 1/13ths and 1/26ths.
