For the 1911 penny there are four die varieties consisting of an obverse die paired with three reverse dies.  The difference is in the placement of the date.

The first spacing is measured between the one and the nine.
The next spacings are measured between the digits and the letter N.


Note that on some coins there is a die crack in the S of GEORGIVS.
