Bicentennial Battle of Jersey
One Pound

During its history Jersey has been attacked many times by the French, the last occasion being the Battle of Jersey in 1781 when the French Baron De Rullecour and his forces landed and reached the capital of the island, St. Helier. In defense of the island, Major Peirson, the senior military officer present, rallied the militia and garrison forces. A battle took place and the French forces surrendered. In commemoration of this historic event the reverse of this coin features the badge of the Royal Jersey Militia.
